The Snows Of Time Silvered My Temple

The title to this pic is the lyrics of a tango, "Volver". This is a image for my uncle, who loves to sing tangos out loud when in restaurants and clubs. As you may guess, he's not part of the band.
I used Photoshop all the way, in a painfully path to fight the fear to screw things up as i progressed. Hope is worth the time invested.
Salut!

This is the depiction of a feeling, it can have different readings; in one hand, the obvious, he has been dump, she's not coming. In the other hand, he's still waiting, that damn hope that lingers... he's picturing himself in another place, hes not there where things aren't working.

Maybe he'll stay there for awhile before snapping out..

I started this piece a long while ago, but just now felt like finishing it. Hope to hear what you can read of it.

red dancer

This image is the result of the memory of the scent of that girl [who happens to like arabic dances], that started the will to paint a bit again, after a long while. Inmediately the idea of "red color" followed. She tends to have a flirteous but unreachable kind of attitude.

Tried a new approach to paint: after sketching, I went for very straightforward and secure strokes, working on a single layer, trying to bystep the fear of "losing" the likeness of the portrait as the colors and shades were added, something that kept me hitting ctrl+z and adding more and more layers in the past. It was a pretty good experience. Used a very rough brush to try to achieve a more textured, "earthy" look to support the "red, warm" idea.

It's based on the city I live at, Valparaíso. This isn't an actual scene from the city, but an imaginary one made up of tipical pieces of architecture/textures/spaces/colors.
It started as a hopeless effort to draw a background (i usually draw characters, and backgrounds are a nightmare to me), but then it started to take shape and it turned out ok for a first attempt.
it was made with Photoshop and a Wacom.
